Exactly right. We are seeing State governments exercise their own authority in response to the power grab by the Federal government. This return to balance between State and Federal is long overdue. This is one of the biggest issues with our federal government. During the twentieth century, the legislature kept passing huge vague laws that created government agencies with their own “rule making” powers. Instead of passing laws that are targeted and specific, Congress passes legislative power to unelected bureaucrats in the executive branch. Although technically under the POTUS, these bureaucrats know that they can just wait out any unfriendly administration, so the people have no power or control. Members of Congress spend their time “fighting for their constituents” against the federal leviathan, which has no downside for them (vs legislating). Congress created and feeds the swamp, then thrives off pretending to fight it. Those who are successful almost guarantee reelection.
