If you’re a Verizon customer in the US and your calls keep dropping or your service is running sluggishly, you’re not imagining it. An outage map on Down Detector, which tracks internet and service outages on social media platforms such as Threads and X, shows that Verizon is presently experiencing a widespread outage, with the issue first affecting users as of around 9:35 AM ET on 31 March and spiking in reports with over 105,000 as of 10:00 AM ET today, with issues persisting in the afternoon.Several users reported being unable to make or receive calls, while some iPhone users were seeing no signal bars, only the ‘SOS’ symbol – a sign that the network had no bars at all. As of press time, Verizon had issued an alert confirming that it’s looking into the problem. It has not provided any further updates since that 11:53 AM ET update. The outage is affecting customers across the country, and though some of them are reporting that service has returned to normal, many others are still experiencing difficulties with their network. T-Mobile’s statement said its network is working normally, with the exception of restoration efforts in areas hit by Hurricane Helene, though some customers ‘may have difficulty connecting with others who use different networks.’Get the latest from Down Detector and Verizon’s live reporting and official statements on the outage.
